Information Office Point I : Just 50m. in front of the church, in the village square, Vao, is Point I. It is staffed by a well-travelled Kunie, Marie-Jeanne, who, in addition to her own native language, speaks English, French, Italian, Czech and Polish.
Office hours are from 8-11.30am and 2-4pm, Monday to Friday.

New in 2023 is an Information Office and Betico Ferry ticket sales office in Kuto, near the small wharf. It’s open every day, except Wednesday. Katia or Lenka will help answer your questions, as well as store luggage for a half or full day, for a fee. Last minute tickets for the ferry are available up to 20 minutes before departure.

ATMs : There are two on the island - somewhat inconveniently, both in Vao. One is outside the Post Office and the other beside the BCI Bank 50m. from the church. Both are accessible 24/24.

An ATM is also available at the Betico Ferry departure area in Noumea.

Take-away bougna : If you’re a group or family (i.e. 4 – 8 people), if your budget is limited and you’d like to taste the Melanesian festive meal, the bougna, you can have one of the island women prepare it for you. Order at least a day or two before (it’s a lot of work), collect it at mid-day and relish eating it with your fingers in the shade along the beach or other picnic spot. Pharmacist, Joanna Monnot, dispenses prescription and non-prescription medicines, as well as stocks a range of first aid, beauty and sun-care products. She speaks English.
